Electrical Installation for My Shop
This is the electrical installation for my workshop. A friend of mine is a master electrician and completed the service hookup for me and helped me with some of the work inside. The power company installed a new transformer and double-breaker pedestal so that the shop could have its own 200 amp feed.
I learned quite a bit with this work including having to pull wire through a poorly thought-out corner that I installed. But I was able to learn to bend coundiut properly and plan the path. What you don't see in the pictures is a lot of the conduit runs in the rafters that are intentionally hidden by the support boards.
I also purposly used an outdoor style panel inside, but it probably would have been easier to use an interior-style panel.
I also installed my own lighting, garage door opener, and fan. Don't worry, the second conduit for the high-voltage run to the opener wasn't installed yet in this picture. I had zero issues with the permit and inspections. However, some of the pictures may show items that were the adopted code at the time, but not new build codes today. Please consult current codes.
I did not build this building myself, I had a local contractor design and build it. He also trenched the line for the service run for me.
